Ridgway is the county
commercial center,
and hub for travel south toward Ouray, Silverton
and Durango - and the southwest, toward the world-famous Telluride Ski
Area and the
Four Corners Region.

Ridgway is located on US 550 & 62,
about midway between Grand Junction (88 miles) and Durango (80 miles),
and is near Ridgway State Recreation Area.
Just south
of Montrose you'll find Ouray County, which has but one stop light.
This playground, nestled in the valley between the Cimarron and
Sneffles ranges of the San Juan Mountains, has been transformed into a
twenty-first century gold rush by those who want to have a lifestyle
most in America can only dream about.
The Victorian town of
Ouray is located just ten miles farther south. Few towns have been
known by so many
"nicknames." Whether you come to know it as the "Gem of the
Rockies," the "Switzerland of America," or the "Jeep Capital of the
World," you'll find that this is a vacationer's dream.
