Ridgway is the county commercial center, and hub
for travel south toward Ouray, Silverton and Durango - and the southwest, toward the world-famous Telluride Ski Area and the Four Corners Region. The areas surrounding Ridgway Colorado and Ouray County

Ridgway State Park is a 2,320-acre park that includes 4 recreational areas and a reservoir. Ridgway offers great views of the towering Sneffels Range, the "Switzerland of America." Ridgway's sandy swim beach, beach house and full-service marina make it a top choice for water-sports enthusiasts with boating, scuba diving, water-skiing, windsurfing and swimming.

With the completion of Ridgway Reservoir in 1987, the Uncompahgre River has developed into a superb tail-water fishery. This year-round catch and release fishery supports a healthy population of large rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. If you're looking for big game, waterfowl and other wildlife, Ouray County has much to offer.

Rafting opportunities also abound with the Gunnison River winding through Dominguez Canyon. Cottonwood stands provide nesting habitat for herons and songbirds; while deer, desert bighorn sheep and large game can be seen along the banks.

Come and soak in the natural hot springs, jeep on the hundreds of miles of four-wheel-drive roads that crisscross the once active mining camps of the San Juans, or just sit back and relax.
