A Native of Telluride with a family history in Telluride dating back to the 1880’s After high school I worked at the Idarado Mine in Telluride for a while and then joined the U.S. Navy for a four year tour of duty, including the Far East and Vietnam. After the Navy I attended Colorado Mountain College in Leadville and earned two associate degrees in business. I graduated from the Colorado School of Banking at the University of Colorado in Boulder. I met my wife, Christine, in Leadville and we lived there for 20 years before moving back to the Western Slope of Colorado. While in Leadville I was Senior Vice President of the Commercial Bank of Leadville and Christine taught 4th grade at private and public school. We also ran a mortgage company for a couple of years. During that time I was on the City Council for 10 years including 4 years as Mayor. We had our two children, John and Annie, while living in Leadville. In 1987 we decided to move to a lower altitude and moved to beautiful Ouray, Colorado – THE SWITZERLAND OF AMERICA. I worked for The Citizens State Bank of Ouray for the 26 years including President of the bank for 10 years. I retired from that position in 2013 and worked for the bank holding company – The Harry A. Lowe Agency, Inc. as managing real estate broker and Insurance Producer. Christine served many years as Director of the Ouray Public Library. I have served on several local and state boards during my business career. Current community involvement : Chairman – Frank Massard Charitable Trust; Chairman of the Cedar Hill Cemetery Board and Vice President of the Bachelor Switch Water Users Association. Previously: Colorado Division of Banking board member; Ouray Fire Protection District Treasurer; Region 10 Revolving Loan Committee Chairman; Colorado Ducks Unlimited State Treasurer; Club 20 Board Member; Ski Patrol and various other local boards and committees. In my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and ATV activities. Growing up in the Telluride mountains and having lived in the Colorado Mountains most of my life, I spend as much time as possible out in the woods and the back roads and trails of Western Colorado. I joined Todd Schroedel and his crew at United Country Sneffels Realty in August 2014. I have held a Colorado Real Estate Brokers License and a Colorado Insurance License since 1978. I was a Colorado Licensed Appraiser for several years. I am enjoying the fast pace and on-going training in Todd’s office. My education is never ending. My background gives me numerous contacts and provides great real estate related opportunities in Ouray, Ridgway, Silverton, Norwood, Telluride, Montrose and the West End that I can put to work in my current position as your local Realtor. My goal is Your Satisfaction!
Hal was lured to the Telluride area in 1998 to fulfill a dream of living in the Southwest Colorado mountains, and to enjoy the recreational opportunities here. He is an avid outdoorsman, former volunteer ski patrolman at Vail, and is a great resource about the best hunting, fishing, trail riding or hiking spots in the area as well as real estate. Before moving to the Western Slope, Hal pursued a career in management and marketing on the Front Range of Colorado, working for and marketing for such companies as Pentax and Lowe Alpine Systems. He has a degree in Engineering from Case Western Reserve. Until his move to Norwood, real estate was a hobby for Hal—buying, improving, and then selling land and houses in the Denver/Boulder area. So real estate was an obvious choice as a career to pursue in the rural Southwest. Hal’s technical background is an asset when understanding water shares, the global positioning system for locating property corner pins, all the new computer software, and internet communications related to real estate. More importantly, with Hal’s marketing background, he understands the need to advertise extensively, and to communicate through direct mail and the internet to expose property to potential buyers and other Realtors. “My goal is to provide accurate, informed, trouble-free service so that transferring real estate is a pleasant event for both parties.” Hal Jordan Client Comments: “Hal is the best!-Very professional yet very personable. We would definitely recommend him and the staff to anyone.” - Derald and Janet “It was a pleasure to work with Hal! I was afraid that the long distance between us would be a problem, but Hal made everything effortless. Thanks!” - Pebble “Hal was wonderful to deal with. We enjoyed working with him.” - Chris and Jamie
